Veera Simha Reddy Review: Good First Half, Bad Second

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Sankranthi Mass entertainer Veera Simha Reddy released in theaters today. Here’s the review of the film.

Story: Jai stays in Istanbul with his mother and love interest. Meanwhile in Rayalaseema, Veerasimha Reddy rules his region and people in a prosperous way. It is a story about how Jai fulfils his father’s wish in Rayalaseema.

Analysis: Balakrishna oozes mental mass swag in his role. He does cent percent justice to the mass-packed role and he excels at it. His towering performance is one of the main highlights of the mass actioner.

Essentially, the first half of the film is loaded with mass stuff that treats the fans. There are many mass episodes and adrenaline pumping fights that take Center stage in the first half.

But thing go awry in the latter half where emotional track and sister sentiment take over. This track goes on and on and one without a break and it bores the audience to the core.

Thaman’s background score is exhilarating and so is the cinematography. Editing could’ve been better as the latter half needed a whole lot of trimming.

Production values are top notch for this mass potboiler. Shruti Haasan, Varalaxmi, Duniya Vijay and others do full justice to their roles.

Verdict: Veera Simha Reddy is a tale of two halves. It has a mass filled first half and an emotionally draining latter half. It can make the most of the Pongal release advantage by catering to the masses.
