Mythri Movie Makers on Saturday evening hosted a grand party for all National Award winners from the Telugu film industry. Allu Arjun, who was recently conferred with the National Award in Best Actor category for ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, hailed director Sukumar and attributed the award to his director’s belief in his talent.
“It was surreal to win the National Award. I have always had the desire to win a National Award. But, more than me, it is Sukumar garu who strongly desired that I pull off the achievement. I am the achievement. And he is the achiever. During the making of ‘Pushpa: The Rise’, a particular portion of a scene was shot thrice in three different schedules. I got curious as to why my director was making me shoot for the portion repeatedly. He said certain words that he was very sincere about. He told me, ‘More than the appreciation I receive as a writer and a director, more than the money I make from this movie, what matters to me is how much appreciation your performance is going to receive’. He asked me not to stop him. Sukumar garu has always been selfless with respect to me. I surrendered to his selflessness. It is because of his unflinching desire that I won the National Award. I don’t feel that this National Award is because of me. That’s why I want to say that he is the achiever, I am only the achievement,” Bunny said.
Devi Sri Prasad praised Sukumar’s passion for movies. He added, “I can’t thank Mythri Movie Makers enough. Thank you, Ravi Shankar garu and Naveen garu. I want to give a huge hug to Sukumar garu but he is not here today. The way he writes films makes me love him a great deal.” The music director topped his speech with words of praise for ‘Pushpa 2’. “I have seen some scenes in ‘Pushpa 2’. Sukumar’s extraordinary writing is matched by Bunny’s superlative performance. I can’t divulge more at this point,” Devi added.
On the occasion, the Rock Star rendered a song dedicated to the Telugu film industry and all National Award winners.
