Nandamuri Kalyan Ram scored the biggest hit of his career with Bimbisara and he is back with Amigos now. Here’s our review of the film.
Story: Amigos deals with the lives of three doppelgängers, all played by Kalyan Ram and it revolves around the incidents that unfold after the three people met each other. How are their loves connected?
Analysis:
Kalyan Ram stands out in the triple role in the film and he’s a treat to watch on the big screens. He excelled in all three roles and showed good variation in the same.
But the issue here is that the film runs along on a slow pace right from the opening sequences. There’s a lot of lag in the opening half. The hook point, related to the triple role is decent but the sequences preceding it are poorly written.
The doppelgänger set up is kind of fresh. While two characters have normal shades, the third one is a baddie and to be particular, a drug dealer.
The director Rajendra picks an interesting subject but his narrative speed goes up and down way too often.
The presentation is uneven for most parts, making the film a tiresome watch.
Verdict: Amigos is a story of three doppelgängers and it has a decent premise. But the poor narrative speed is the backlog and it pulls the film down almost entirely. It makes for a tiresome watch.
