Thalapathy Vijay is usually regarded as the biggest superstar in Tamil Nadu after the obvious first-choice superstar Rajinikanth. But this time around, Vijay has taken a beating in the hand of Ajith.
This Pongal season, both Vijay and Ajith clashed at the box office with Varisu and Thunivu respectively. While many expected the in-form Vijay to gain the upper hand, that wasn’t to be.
As per the latest box office reports, Ajith’s Thunivu has beaten Vijay’s Varisu by a slender yet affirmative margin. Interestingly, this happened right in the heart of Tamil theatrical market – Tamil Nadu.
Thunivu has grossed over Rs 21 crores at the Tamil Nadu box office while Varisu, which also released on the same day had grossed Rs 20.50 crore. The margin is a very small one but it does differentiate the two biggies.
