Young hero Suhas’ out-and-out family entertainer Writer Padmabhushan was released on last Friday as a small movie. But the film that received unanimous blockbuster reports from all corners is turning out to be a huge profit maker for its makers. The aggressive and strategic promotions favored the movie to make strong business at the box office.
Directed by debutant Shanmukha Prashanth, Writer Padmabhushan collected Rs 5 Cr+ gross worldwide in its first-weekend run. The movie, in the overseas region, minted $200K thus far. Going by the trend, the movie will have a long run at the box office.
The digital and satellite rights of the movie which was made on a budget of Rs 4 Cr (including prints and publicity) were sold to Zee Network pre-release for a price that already put the makers in profits. The movie was released on a commission basis in all territories. So, the makers will enjoy massive profits with the movie.
Furthermore, Writer Padmabhushan has been getting good offers for remake rights in other languages. The film was produced jointly under the banners of Chai Bisket Films and Lahari Films.
