Bollywood star Akshay Kumar recently hit the theatres with his latest outing, Selfiee, which is the Hindi remake of Malayalam blockbuster, Driving License.
As per the latest box office reports, Selfiee ended up collecting less than what its promotional tours and publicity costs incurred.
The film was made on a production cost of Rs 140 crores which is including the pre release promotions. But its box office collections tell a sorry tale.
Selfiee collected Rs 12 crores theatrical share worldwide. While the production costs are Rs 140 crores, the film ended up collected Rs 12 crores in theatres.
Selfiee couldn’t even recover 10% of the production costs and it will now stand as one of the biggest box office disasters of all time in Indian cinema.
The film collected less than what the original, Driving License collected in Malayalam – Rs 27 crores gross. This will now stand as a black mark in Akshay’s career.
