The overall budget of Nani’s Dasara is said to be north of Rs 50 crores and the fact that Nani trusted a debut director with such a huge budget has caught everyone’s attention.
Here’s a look into what actually transpired and what propelled Nani to convince his producer Sudhakar Cherukuri to spend so heavily on Dasara.
Srikanth Odela is an introvert and is not a natural story orator. He told Nani the story of Dasara for 4 hours in his own style. Nani felt that these characters are like the ones Srikanth might have met/studied in real life. Nani was impressed with it the story.
However, there is a catch. Does Srikanth have the finesse of visual story telling as he is a debutant. Nani gave him a small amount of money that doesn’t even cover expenses to shoot a short film. He has given two scenes from Dasara script to Srikanth to shoot with it.
Srikanth went to his hometown and shot the scenes with limited resources. After watching the output, Nani was thoroughly impressed and he readily signed Srikanth.
