Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya released in theaters today. The film is billed to be a Sankranthi entertainer. Let’s see what it has to offer.
Story: The story between a fisherman(Chiranjeevi) and his friend, egoistic ACP Vikram Sagar IPS(Ravi Teja), who stops Veerayya from smuggling goods.
Analysis:
Firstly, Chiranjeevi is a good fit for this role with mass shades. He plays a rural fisherman and his mannerisms and antics are a treat for his fans. Ravi Teja delivers a strong performance in the role of an upright cop. Shruti Haasan and Catherine Tresa are good in their limited roles.
Waltair Veerayya falters when it comes to the narrative. The screenplay is shabby at most times with the lack of commercial highs. The songs are of decent quality and the BGM is alright.
There are many illogical scenes which tamper the flow of the narrative. For most parts, the film blows hot and cold with one good comedy scene followed by a bland scene.
The director Bobby tries to ride entirely on Chiranjeevi’s charisma and this is where things go for a toss. The lack of effective and engaging screenplay cost big time. The climax is a routine fare.
Verdict: Waltair Veerayya is a mixed bag with decent comedy scenes and a fair share of bland scenes. Chiranjeevi is the mainstay in this otherwise underwhelming entertainer.
