Dhamaka, featuring Ravi Teja in the lead role released in theaters today. Does it have what it takes to entertain the audience?
Story: The film has Ravi Teja playing a dual role. In one role, he is seen as a budding CEO for a business tycoon, and in the other, he plays a middle class lad who is rattled by typical problems. What is the story behind the dual action? Will they come together?
Analysis: Dhamaka was promoted as a proper action entertainer with Ravi Teja mark episodes. But that isn’t the case, albeit entirely.
Right from the get go, Dhamaka is a routine action thriller that has nothing new to offer in terms of story or the narration. The film is an amalgamation of one routine mass scene after another.
But one of the main positives is Ravi Teja’s trademark screen presence. He looks super sharp in the dual roles and carries both of them with great energy.
Commercial potboilers usually follow a set of standard tropes. Sadly in this case, Dhamaka doesn’t intend or try to offer something new to the viewers, resulting in a routine affair.
The interval twist is one of the highlights, but it isn’t validated in the climax, which turns out to be a weak one. The songs and cinematography are of elite level quality though.
Verdict: Dhamaka is a routine beaten to death commercial subject that has a few mass moments here and there. Barring Ravi Tej mark presence in fight scenes and good one liners, the film has very little to offer. Only masses can give it a try this weekend.
