Analysis:
18 Pages is an emotionally driven love drama that has certain shades of Sukumar’s trademark writing skills. There are moments of brilliance in the film that have Sukumar’s stamp all over them.
But the issue with this Nikhil starrer is the lack of consistent drive to keep the audience hooked till the end. Every good scene is followed by a dragged out routing sequence which damages the flow.
The magic that is needed for a love drama to click goes missing here for some reason. The lead pair look good together but their intimacy isn’t quite potent enough.
The star cast is impressive for this medium-budget film. The narration blows hot and cold for most parts. The film, as a whole lacks the desired punch to make for an enticing watch from start to end.
The background score and the soundtrack are of decent quality. Cinematography is very impressive. The making values are of top quality. A lot of emphasis has gone into the production values.
Verdict: 18 Pages has its moments here and there but as a whole, the film loses steam every now and again. Those who absolutely adore love dramas can give it a try, but for the rest it’s a tough pill to swallow.
